Jharkhand imposes ban on processions, mass gatherings ahead of festivals

The Jharkhand government on Friday issued fresh advisories to avoid any possibility of coronavirus spread in the wake of festivals such as Holi, Easter, Eid, and Shab-e-Barat.

As per the order, the Jharkhand government has imposed a ban on processions and mass gatherings at public places for the upcoming festivals.

People should avoid mass celebrations and celebrate festivals at home with family members, the state government said.

Places of worship will also adhere to the latest SOPs issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), it added. All offices in the state will also follow Covid-19 protocols.

The latest guidelines by the Jharkhand government were announced in view of the sporadic rise of coronavirus cases in the state.

On Friday, Jharkhand had reported 308 fresh coronavirus cases. With this, the total number of active virus cases in the state climbed to 1,399 cases.
